Road Trip Day Three Part One

On Friday night we got in pretty late and just got to bed, we had a lot of driving in two days. We got up bright and early and headed out to the show. The show was at the Sacramento Speedway and was more of a drag race/show/swap. The swap meet was bigger than I though it would be, but it was more of a drag race than anything else. I saw a new Magnum SRT-8 Wagon run a 13.58 in the 1/4 mile and it still had the dealer plates on it! Here are a couple of pics.

This is Bullitt and my brother's car parked at the show with a very nice DeSoto that had a hemi in it.

This was a 1970 GTX 440-6 that was for sale, decent car, guy wanted 37k for it...don't think it sold.

Road Trip Day Two Part Three

We headed south from Medford to Sacramento and made pretty good time going south. We heard about a couple of junkyards north of Sacramento, but unfortunately they were not open. One we could see a 68 Charger sitting on top of a pile! Looked like it was in decent shape, except for the front end being bashed. Williams was our next destination and I saw more 55-60 Mopars than I have ever seen in one place before. Two cars stood out to me, a 1957 Plymouth Fury (Christine!) that looked like it used to be a police car. It had a spotlight and holes in the roof where I think the emergency lights were placed. They also had a 58 Chrysler 300D that originally had a fuel injected engine, think it was less than 1 in 20 made. It was too primitive a technology for the time and most got replaced with carbs.

Road Trip Day Two Part Two

After going out to Tom and Patty's we headed out to a friends place in South Medford who has a huge collection of some very cool cars. He has a 300 Hurst, a T/A Challenger, and a huge collection of parts. The coolest thing was a small block Mopar water fountain!

Road Trip Day 2 Part 1

After spending the night at a brand new Super 8 (great hotels if you are just passing through some place) we headed out to Tom and Patty's. They sell Mopar cars and other parts. They have an amazing collection of stuff including a 68 Dodge Coronet 440 with a Hemi (one of only two made), an AAR 'Cuda, and a 6 pac 'Cuda that was wrecked real bad. Here are a couple of pics:

Road Trip Day One

Not too much exciting happened today, met with a vendor of mine in Medford, Oregon and that is where we are spending the night. Ended up with four people with us on the trip in two cars. Here is a pic of us at the Super 8.

eBay for Beginner's Meeting

For all of you reading this in the Seattle, WA area I just wanted to tell you about a monthly meeting I always go to, it is called eBay for Beginner's and is put on by Janelle Elms. Janelle travels all around the country teaching for eBay at conferences and was one of the main speakers at eBay Live, the biggesr get together of eBay sellers in the nation. I always go to learn something new and meet other sellers from around the region. Lisa Suttora, owner and operator of http://whatdoisell.com/, is also always at the meetings and is considered the authority on sourcing product for eBay. If your new, if you have been selling on eBay for a long time, or your just curious, come on out! The meeting is from 5-8 PM at the Crossroads Mall in Bellevue, Washington and is always fun. As an added bonus, your humble blog writer will be teaching part of the class on blogs! Say hi if you read this.

Road Trip!

Was at my monthly Mopar meeting last week and a couple of guys said they were going to Sacramento, CA this Saturday for a car show, swap, and drag meet. I decided I was going to tag along, so I am now going to Sacramento on Saturday. Going down with my brother and we should have 2-3 cars in the caravan going south. Going to stop at a yard or two on the way down and I got a rumor of a place in Central Oregon that has 200-300 C-Bodies a guy is trying to get rid of. Since my 72 Dodge Polara is a C-Body (what Mopar called it's full sized cars) this should be heaven for me to find some parts. The picture attached is my brother's car, a 1968 Dodge Polara Convertible. Will post some pics when I get back!

My Toy Hauler

Just wanted to share a picture of my toy hauler. It is a 1982 Dodge Ram 1 Ton Ram truck and it is a beast. It is about thirty feet long and weighs well over 6,000 pounds. I use it to haul around cars that I buy and sell and to haul big loads with. Going to try and come up with a system on the ramp so I can put stake sides on it so I can haul stuff to swap meets on it.

The guy working on the truck is Tim Morisset and is my mechanic. The guy does amazing work on classic cars and is an expert with car electrical systems. Had the starter, starter relay, and brake system all go out at the same time, guess that is what you get when you buy a truck with over 300,000 miles on it! Enjoy!

Monroe Swap Meet

Went to the Monroe Swap Meet yesterday. It is at the Monroe Fairgrounds in Monroe, WA and is probably the biggest auto swap meet in Washington. They have it in the spring and fall. Had a good time, nothing like going around swap meeting. Found an NOS (New Old Stock - basically a brand new part) door skin for a 1971 Polara, don't see that everyday. Also picked up this license plate. For those of you who don't know, I went to Gonzaga University and the nickname for the school is the Zags.

Couple of finds from the weekend

Got a couple of cool parts from a guy south of Seattle this weekend, got a set of aluminum wheels with the small bolt pattern wheels, a 2.76 SG 489 case pumpkim, and a 3.23 open 489 case. The guy also had a 70 B-Body A-833 4 speed tranny that still had the original huge pistol grip shifter on it! That was a little out of my price range, but was still very cool.
