What Happens to a Car After is it Parted Out

This was a 1968 Dodge Polara Wagon a friend of mine had that we parted out about three years ago. Was cleaning out some old e-mails and run across what happened to it!

The Timeless Look of the Dodge Charger

Something about a Dodge Charger just screams Muscle Car. The first Mopar I ever owned was a 1970 Dodge Charger with 70,000 original miles on it. My brother and Dad now own a 70 with a 440 six pack motor. This 1968 Dodge Charger R/T just arrived at the shop, we are going to see if we can get it running then probably list it on eBay for our client. The car is for sale, so if anybody out there is interested feel free to e-mail me.

C-Body Prices Rising?

One reason I really like the old Mopar police cars are since they have the same engine as the much more expensive Mopar's but are much more easily obtained, at least from a purely financial stand point. Well, this car just sold tonight. Granted, it is the "Holy Grail" of Mopar police cars (a 1969 Dodge Polara CHP, the fastest cop car made for 25 years), but still, 28k! I've heard rumors of 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst cars selling for over 20k and people are asking almost that much for a V-Code 1970 Plymouth Fury, maybe the C-Bodies are going up in value now too. Is this a good thing? Will I not be able to afford a Mopar police car in 5 years?

Dodge Sweptline Truck's Disc Brakes

We are almost finished with the new Sweptline Dodge truck disc brake conversion kit. We get the brackets back tomorrow and will post a picture of them. They will use Chevy 1/2 ton truck calipers and Ford Crown Vic Police rotors, will post more later when we get it mocked up on a truck.

Beauty in the Eye of the Beholder?

Got this 1973 Challenger parts car last week. Sent the picture to a couple of friends and they think it's ugly. Me? I think it's an automotive piece of art, guess it depends on how you look at it, anybody out there have an opinion?

Cheap Dart

Got this from person near me since it was going to be towed by the city. Got it home and it just would not turn over, sounded like a dead battery to me. I put in one of my fresh batteries and it turned over fine and almost fired! I though I had better check the oil before I went any further (had forgotten to earlier) and the oil was dripping off the dipstick, not good. I pulled the rad cap and it was black...uh oh, cracked block, water mixed with oil. Looks like this one is a parts car!

Was looking under the hood and the car still had it's cert-tag (a metal tag under the hood Chrysler put there for warranty information). It says the car was originally a City of Seattle car, sounds like a police car to me.

A Cryin' Shame

A good friend of mine got this car the other day, the passenger side rear tire blew out and you can see what happened. Very cool car, a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 with a 426 Wedge Motor in it, was a real nice car. Think he is going to try and fix it, but we will see how bad the car was really damaged.

1,000 Feedback!

Had a big milestone late last week, I hit 1,000 feedback on eBay. This is a big milestone in my business and have been waiting for this to come for a while. From talking to other sellers I have gathered that people really think you are a real business when you get over 1,000 feedback and you can get more for your items. Hope that is true!

Junkyard Part #3

One thing I always do when I go to junkyards is try and find police cars. They are the Mopars I like the most and am always looking for those unique parts that were only on police cars. Last time I was in this yard I found a 1973 Dodge Polara that was a police car, this time I ran across this one. This is one of the rarest Mopar Police cars ever and one of only three years Mopar ever made a police package for a Chrysler. The wheelbase of the full-size Dodge Sedan was not big enough for CHP (California Highway Patrol) in 1962 so they decided to use these, the 1962 Chrysler Enforcer. This car has obviously been sitting for a very long time, although it might be restorable. I am pretty sure it was CHP since it has a black bottom and a white painted top. Supposedly WSP (Washington State Patrol) used these as well, but this is obviously not WSP since it would have been blue. It had the certified speedo and the white steering wheel.

Engine Out

My brother's 68 Dodge Polara Convertible has been burning more and more oil over the last year and since he is planning on driving it to the Spring Fling car show in April in LA, he decided to rebuild the engine. This was the fastest rebuild I have ever seen, had the engine out last weekend and it will be running tonight, not bad. Glad to know I am using my shop for good use!

Junkyard Run!

Went with some friends to a junkyard in Central Washington last weekend, the yard is huge, talking 500-600 cars, and that might be conservative. Here is my favorite picture I took at the yard, it shows a 66 Dodge Charger, a Desoto, 68 Dodge Charger, 70 Dodge Charger, 62 Dodge, 66 Fury, and a 61 Dodge Wagon.

Back From Mexico

Been slacking on blogging since I got back from Mexico. I managed on my last day there to slip at the pool and break my wrist, which has slowed me down a little bit. Wish I had a better story (keep telling my friends I got into a bar fight), but was just a stupid fall. Going to the doctor again tomorrow, hoping it is nothing more serious than the initial diagnosis.

Also doing this full time now as well so I am going to try and post at least once a day from now on, although I cannot guarantee anything. Going to be posting about my junkyard run last weekend for the next couple of days, have some cool pics!
