More Pictures from the Auction

This is a Lincoln I think, not sure the year:

This is a 1956 Dodge Coronet Convertible that originally came with a Hemi Engine:

This is also a 1956 Dodge Coronet that originally came with a Hemi Engine, but it is a two door post:

LeMay Show and Auction

The main reason I went to the LeMay show was for the auction. They had mostly earlier stuff this year, like 30's and 40's, but they had a few diamonds in the rough. For some reason I did not get a picture of the car I bid on, a 1966 Chrysler Newport Convertible, but here are some highlights, will post a couple more tomorrow.

This is a 40's Dodge 2 Ton Truck, really like these for some reason. Want to make a rollback car hauler out of one of these one day:

This is a 40's Dodge Texaco Gas Truck, think it went for over $2,500, very cool:

This is a 1955 Ford F-150 Panel Truck, I like Panel Wagon's, hmmm, Panel Wagon:

LeMay Show and Auction

Went to the LeMay Show and Auction on Saturday and it was a lot of fun. For those who do not know Harold LeMay owned the largest private car collection in the world with something like over 4,000 cars in the collection of every color and breed imaginable. The legend goes that he sold three cars in his lifetime and be bought two of them back. Here are a couple of pictures I took of the collection, will talk about the auction tomorrow.

This is a 1960 or 1961 (not sure which) Dodge Phoenix that had the trunk removed and a camper added!

The collection is so large it is at two different locations. One was LeMay's home (and still is to his wife) and the other is a Military School/Convent that he bought and filled with cars. A bunch of old Metro buses and school buses shuttle you around between the sites. The coolest form of transportation is the double decker buses however, this is the one I rode on.

This was a cool car parked on the lawn at the main house, a Lincoln Continental Suicide Door Convertible.

Sold the Truck

Finally sold my Mazda truck today, guess Craigslist does work, you just have to sift through all the flakes. Got a little less than what I wanted for it, but got such a good deal on my new Dodge I guess I can't complain.

Selling a Truck/Car

I just bought a new truck (see below) and now need to sell my current one. What is the best way to do this? Newspaper? Craigslist? Autotrader? I have a lot of experience selling older stuff and am pretty good at it, but what is the best way to sell a modern vehicle? I am currently trying Craigslist and to be honest the main reason is that it is free. I have had four people contact me in a week, one thought it was a 4x4, another flaked on me when they said they would show up and the other thought it was a Diesel. Do people not read the ads? Are all buyers on Craigslist flakes? Don't know, but I do know I need to sell my truck fast, hard buying a new truck while you still have your old one. Anyone looking for a nice pickup? $10,500 and it's yours.

Upcoming Shows

Just wanted to share which shows we will be at coming up. The Tacoma Mopars Unlimited Show will be on Sunday August 27th with all of our stuff (with my new truck all loaded up)

Sunbust Show in Graham, WA

We are most likely going to be going to the Fall Fling Show in Van Nuys, CA in October. The biggest reason I bought the Diesel was to be able to bring a ton of stuff to shows and we hope to take a bunch of stuff down to California.

Got a New Rig!

Been shopping for a Diesel pickup for over a month now and finally ran across a good one. I currently own a 2002 Mazda B4000 pickup (I know, boo!!! It's a Ford! Well, got it from my Dad and it was cheap) that does the job, but cannot handle towing large loads and can't haul a ton of heavy stuff. Everytime I loaded it up for a swap meet the bumper would almost be dragging on the ground, well, no more, upgraded to this baby.

It is a 92 with only 65,000 miles on it and I think I got a pretty good deal. It needs some basic maintenance, but I plan to keep this one for a long time. Kind of wish I got an extended cab, but just couldn't pass up this deal. She is a strippy, AC and an auto tranny being the only options, but it is lighter that way so better gas mileage!
