One of my favorite activities is going to estate auctions. Went to an auction in Puyallup on Saturday and had a good time. The gentleman who passed away worked on cars since the 20's, guess a repair business was in his family for a long time. A lot of really cool old stuff was at the auction, here is the brochure:
Mather Auction BrochureI ended up getting a box of old factory service manuals, a Bud sign, an old Fram Oil Filter banner, and a bunch of shelving for pretty cheap. The coolest part of the auction was the old tools and diagnotic equipment the guy had. I was talking to the son of the gentleman and I guess the guy had a bunch of Auburn and Cord original factory testing machines! Would have loved to get a hold of one of those. Apparently the family sold those at an antique mall in Puyallup.

Had a friend who just wanted to get rid of this 1962 Imperial Crown and of course I took it. Once it got here I am not sure why I did. I've seen a lot of battered and beaten cars in my lifetime but this one might take the cake. It sat on it's belly in the mud for at least 20 years, maybe more. Every panel is rusty, including the frame rails and all the glass is broken out of it. At least it has some good chrome :|
As I have mentioned I have been doing a little side work for the company I used to work for. A little extra cash never hurt anyone, especially me. The downside to this was I was scheduled for three meetings in three days this week; all on the south end of Seattle. I live about even from Seattle and my shop is 25 minutes to the north of Seattle, not a good combo. So, basically the shop was vacated for three days, the result, I had to ship out 40 items today. It is 12:45 AM and I think it is about time for bed. The joys of working for yourself!
I have gone to a ton of weddings in the last month, going to another one this weekend at Lake Chelan in Eastern Washington, so will "out of the office" all weekend. Congrates to Ian and Tammie, Joe and Meredith, and Sean and Liz!

For a while we have been selling heater hose nipples for Big Block Mopars. These are the pieces that go into your water pump housing that connect your heater hoses to it and send coolant to your heater box. These have been very popular but the Small Block nipples have not been available. That all changed this week, we are proud to announce we are now selling the 1964-1978 Mopar Small Block Heater Hose Nipples, take a look!

One thing I really enjoy doing is going to car club meetings. I am a member of two clubs,
The Seattle Mopars Unlimited Slub of Seattle, WA and the
Northwest Chapter of Mopars Unlimited based in Burlington, WA. The Seattle Club's meeting is the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 PM at Alfy's Pizza in Lynnwood, WA and the Northwest's Meeting is the first Wednesday of every month at 7 PM at Alfy's Pizza in Burlington, WA. Went to the NW meeting tonight and it is just fun hanging out and talking cars. It is an hour and a half drive for me to go to this meeting every month but yet I always go. Why? Don't know, guess I just like cars that much and like hanging out with people of the same mentality.

Been doing some random work for my previous employer and one of the advantages is I get to travel around Washington a bit. Was in Oak Harbor, Wa yesterday and went back through Deception Pass, going from Whidbey Island back to the Main Land. I took this picture while stopped at the park, just a perfect day.
Went to a special event on Wednesday the 30th last week. It was an event at the Skagit Speedway put on by the
Kasey Kahne Foundation. The event featured a Sprint Car Race with Kahne and fellow Nascar driver Tony Stewart in the race. They sold 8,000 tickets for the event and sold it out. It was a very fun event to go to, it is not everyday you see current Nascar drivers on a track such as Skagit Speedway. Went up with some of my Mopar buddies and my brother. The most memorable moment of the night was when Stewart put his car in the wall, he never even made it one lap! Here is the video courtesy of King5 News in Seattle. We were directly behind the crash and could not really see how bad it was until I saw the article on the news. This video also made cnn.com's homepage.

Last Sunday I went to the Tacoma Sunbust show and swap meeted. You could not ask for a better day, it was 80 degrees without a cloud in the sky. Car count was awesome, somewhere around 300 cars, but the swap meet was a bit of a disappointment. Seemed smaller than last year and nobody was buying. I brought about 50/50 new stuff vs used stuff and I think I sold a pair of door handles and that was it. Was trying to sell a couple of bucket seats, a valence, and a couple of doors and nobody even asked about them all day, frustrating to say the least. Think my days of bringing big stuff to shows is over, I never sell any of it, it takes up all the room in my truck, and it is a pain to carry around. Going to Fall Fling in Los Angeles in October and going to be packing light, 90% new stuff, very little used.
Attached is a picture of a 1971 Plymouth Sport Fury Wagon. It was for sale and I had to talk myself out of buying it, it was NICE! It was a two tag car and had just about every option available. The second picture is an action shot of the Diesel, all loaded and ready to go home after a hard day of work.
